'Very Angry' Trump Goes Off on Putin Over Ukraine in NBC Interview—in No Uncertain (Salty) Terms
"In what amounted to a fortuitous opportunity for President Donald Trump to distance his beliefs from those of Russian President
Vladimir Putin over the Russia-Ukraine War, Trump went off on Putin during a phone interview, which was aired by NBC News on Sunday.
While Trump critics have accused Trump of everything from siding with Putin against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over the war to being little more than Putin's puppet, Trump came out of the gate in no uncertain terms during the interview, saying he was "very angry" and "p***** off," and telling NBC that Putin's comments are not "going in the right direction."
As Agence France-Presse reported on Friday, Putin is now calling for a Ukrainian transitional government to replace Zelensky.
Trump told NBC:
"If I feel, if we’re in the midst of a negotiation, you could say that I was very angry, p***** off, when Putin said yesterday that … you know, when Putin started getting into Zelensky’s credibility, because that’s not going in the right location, you understand? If Russia and I are unable to make a deal on stopping the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I think it was Russia’s fault — which it might not be — but if I think it was Russia’s fault, I am going to put secondary tariffs on oil, on all oil coming out of Russia.
That would be that if you buy oil from Russia, you can’t do business in the United States. There will be a 25 percent tariff on all oil — a 25- to 50-point tariff on all oil."
Strong words — albeit with a bit of hedging. Diplomacy?"

Thailand reels from earthquake Bangkok grinds to a halt as tremors are felt from Burma earthquake
"Bangkok ground to a halt on Friday after a strong earthquake shook the clogged Thai capital, causing chaos and triggering citywide evacuations that left many thousands of people stranded for much of the day.
All urban rail systems were suspended and roads were gridlocked across one of Asia’s biggest cities after the earthquake in neighboring Burma caused tremors up to a magnitude of 7.1 in Bangkok, about 1,020km from the epicenter. The earthquake killed nine people in Bangkok, including eight laborers who died after the collapse of a 33-storey building that was under construction. Rescuers with dogs searched for signs of life, with more than 100 missing at the site, authorities said.
Foreign tourists – some shirtless, bathrobes or swim shorts – had to leave their hotels and mingled with throngs of office workers evacuated from high-rise towers in Bangkok’s commercial districts, many in shock at a rare quake that caused some skyscrapers to sway for minutes." IrishTimes
Vice President JD Vance delivers remarks in Greenland
"Vice President JD Vance predicted that Greenland would voluntarily partner with the United States amid talks of acquiring the island. "If the people of Greenland were willing to partner with the United States, and I think that they ultimately will partner with the United States, we could make them much more secure," Vance said. "We could do a lot more protection."
The remarks came during a high-profile visit to the Pituffik Space Base, a U.S. facility on the island's northwest coast, which is otherwise a Danish territory.
Denmark, the vice president argued, hasn't done a good enough job securing Greenland from Russian and Chinese encroachment, leaving it vulnerable and in need of a U.S. takeover.
"What we think is going to happen is that the Greenlanders are going to choose, through self-determination, to become independent of Denmark," Vance said. "And then we're going to have conversations with the people of Greenland from there."

Key points of Putin’s idea to place Ukraine under UN control
"Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed placing Ukraine under a temporary international administration as one possible way of resolving the ongoing conflict. The idea, he said, draws on international precedent and would aim to restore legitimate governance before any peace deal could be finalized.
During his meeting with Russian nuclear submarine officers on Thursday, President Putin described a possible international mechanism for stabilizing Ukraine – placing it under temporary external administration coordinated by the United Nations.
Problem: Collapse of legitimacy in Kiev
Putin argued that Ukraine’s constitutional legitimacy has broken down due to the expiration of Vladimir Zelensky’s presidential powers last year and the lack of elections since – rendering all of his government’s claims to authority invalid.
Consequence: Power vacuum filled by radicals

Putin argued that Ukraine’s constitutional legitimacy has broken down due to the expiration of Vladimir Zelensky’s presidential powers last year and the lack of elections since – rendering all of his government’s claims to authority invalid.
Consequence: Power vacuum filled by radicals
Putin has warned that groups with neo-Nazi views, such as the notorious Azov battalion – which receive Western weapons and actively recruit followers – could increasingly exert de facto control in Ukraine, potentially replacing formal civilian authorities.
Suggestion: UN-led temporary external administration
Putin proposed the use of a UN-led transitional authority, referencing prior international missions
.Purpose: Restoring constitutional order and setting legal framework for stable peace
The main goal, according to Putin, would be to organize democratic elections and install a functioning, legitimate government trusted by citizens and recognized globally." RT

"Four US Army soldiers mysteriously disappeared during a training exercise in Lithuania near the Belarusian border on Tuesday. The Pentagon has yet to confirm their fate, after NATOSecretary-General Mark Rutte triggered confusion by expressing condolences to their families.
The soldiers, from the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division based at Fort Stewart, Georgia, were conducting “scheduled tactical training” at the General Silvestras Zukauskas training ground in Pabrade, Lithuania when they went missing, prompting a large-scale search and rescue operation.
“The M88 Hercules armored recovery vehicle the four missing US Soldiers were operating during a training exercise has been located in Lithuania,” US Army Europe and Africa said in its latest update on Wednesday.
The armored vehicle “was discovered submerged in a body of water in a training area,” but “search efforts for the soldiers continue,” the US military added. The Lithuanian Armed Forces also stated that, at present, “there is no evidence or information confirming the death of the troops.” RT

Ukraine, Russia agree ‘naval ceasefire’ in Black Sea
"Kyiv and Moscow have agreed to forego the use of military force in the Black Sea, according to a statement by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Umerov led the Ukrainian delegation at the latest round of talks with the United States in Saudi Arabia. Besides the maritime ceasefire, the negotiations touched on implementing a halt on Ukraine and Russia’s reciprocal strikes on energy infrastructure.
The minister outlined several key outcomes:
1. All sides agreed to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea, cease the use of force, and prevent commercial vessels from being used for military purposes. He added that any movement of Russian military vessels beyond the eastern Black Sea would be seen as a threat to national security and a violation of freedom of navigation, giving Ukraine full right to self-defense.
2. All parties agreed to implement the previous agreement that bans attacks on the energy infrastructure of both Ukraine and Russia.
3. All sides welcomed the involvement of third countries to support the implementation of the energy and maritime ceasefire agreements.
4. All parties committed to working toward a stable, lasting peace.
5. The United States confirmed its support for facilitating the exchange of prisoners of war, releasing detained civilians, and returning forcibly displaced Ukrainian children."

Trump: Any Country Buying Venezuelan Oil Slapped With 25% Tariff
"President Donald Trump is imposing a 25% 'Secondary' tariff on Venezuela, and a 25% tariff on "any Country that purchases Oil and/or Gas from Venezuela," payable to the United States "on any Trade they do with our Country."
The tariffs, which would go into affect April 2 should Trump implement them, would cut a major source of revenue for the Maduro government - while ratcheting up pressure on China, a major purchaser of Venezuelan crude that's already looking at 20% tariffs under Trump.
Trump cited "the fact that Venezuela has purposefully and deceitfully sent to the United States, undercover, tens of thousands of high level, and other, criminals, many of whom are murderers and people of a very violent nature," in his 25% tariff on Venezuela, and says the additional 25% tariff punishing anyone buying oil or gas will begin on April 2nd."

Five key takeaways from Trump-Zelensky phone call
"Zelensky’s call with Trump marked the first official direct contact between the two leaders since a dramatic confrontation in the Oval Office late last month, after which the Ukrainian President and his team quickly left the White House.
First. The phone call was in stark contrast to the not-so-successful meeting between Zelensky and Trump in the Oval Office on February 28. The Ukrainian president called the conversation “the most substantive in recent times” and suggested that it could have lasted even longer if the leaders had not had other things to do.Trump also positively assessed the conversation, calling it “very good”.
Second. The American side will continue defense-related intelligence sharing with the Ukrainian side, even despite the fact that Putin demanded that Trump end such support for Ukraine. Moreover, Putin demanded a "complete cessation of foreign military aid" to Kyiv. However, it seems that this "wish" of his will also remain unanswered.
Third. In a conversation with Trump, Zelensky agreed to halt strikes on Russian energy facilities. But he emphasized that in the event of a violation of the agreement by the enemy,
Fourth. The telephone conversation between Trump and Zelensky touched on the repatriation of the Ukrainian children who were illegally deported to the Russian Federation. Trump promised to work closely with both warring parties to help these children return home, as per a statement from the White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt.
Fifth and finally. Regarding the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), which is currently under Russian occupation. The President of Ukraine confirmed that the possibility of US participation in the restoration of the plant was discussed. At the same time, slightly different interpretations are coming from the US - in particular, with respect to the possibility of the United States taking control of this nuclear power plant. It is not yet clear what exactly is being discussed, but the issue is being actively elaborated at the expert level." Ukrin
