Sudan military signals willingness to work with US and Saudi for peace

"Sudan's Sovereign Council, led by army chief Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Al-Burhan, announced its readiness to cooperate with the United States and Saudi Arabia to end the two-year-long conflict devastating the country.
The council expressed gratitude to both nations for their ongoing efforts to halt the violence and affirmed its willingness to participate seriously in peace initiatives for Sudan.
This statement comes after
US President Donald Trump signaled his willingness to work with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt to resolve the fighting between Sudan's army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Clashes between the military and this paramilitary group, accused of serious abuses, have plagued Sudan since April 2023.
"We will work with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab EmiratesEgypt, and other partners in the Middle East to end these atrocities,Trump declared on his Truth Social account. The comment followed a visit by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Washington, where he urged Trump to take action to end the conflict.
Recently, Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for an end to foreign military support for the RSF, highlighting concerns about escalating violence.
Recent RSF offensives, including the capture of North Darfur's capital el-Fasher, have resulted in hundreds of deaths and forced tens of thousands to flee amid reports of atrocities. The International Organization for Migration reported that nearly 90,000 people have left el-Fasher and nearby villages, facing hazardous conditions without necessities like food or medical care.
Saudi officials caution that worsening instability in Sudan could threaten the Red Sea region and Africa, possibly enabling extremist groups to expand.
Regional divisions have emerged: Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia support the Sudanese Armed Forces, while the UAE reportedly supplies arms to the RSF.
Trump further pledged on social media that the US would work with Middle Eastern partners to end the violence and stabilize Sudan."

Putin Issues Response To Trump Peace Plan

"Russia's President Putin has responded to the Trump peace plan for the first time, after Zelensky and Europe had earlier issued either mixed or negative statements,
Speaking at a Russian Security Council meeting Friday, Putin began by alluding to the August Alaska summit, "During the discussions, the American side asked us to make certain compromises," he said. According to more via state media translation:
According to the Russian president, Moscow confirmed during the talks that it agreed with the peace proposals. However, he added that after the Alaska meeting there was a pause from the US side, which he attributed to Ukraine’s rejection of Trump’s draft. This is why the “modernized plan” containing 28 points appeared later, Putin said, adding that Moscow has the document.
I believe it could also form the basis of a final peace settlement. But this text is not being discussed with us in substance,” Putin said.
So generally this is a positive signal to Washington from Putin." ZeroHedge

Zelensky Says Ukraine Could 'Lose Key Partner' As He Balks At Trump's Peace Deal

"This morning, Zelensky and Vice President JD Vance discussed the Trump administration's new Ukraine peace plan, marking the highest-level talk on 28-point plan so far, and soon on the heels of this Zelensky issued the following video statement which states in part...
"This is one of the most difficult moments in our history [...] Currently, the pressure on Ukraine is one of the hardest. Ukraine may now face a very difficult choice, either losing its dignity or the risk of losing a key partner."
He also said: "I will present arguments, persuade, and propose alternatives, but we will not give the enemy grounds to say that it is Ukraine that does not want peace. That will not happen." And: "We did not betray Ukraine then (on February 24), and we will not betray it now. I know that the people are with me."
The statement is tinged with defiant rhetoric aimed at Washington, especially given he talks of the "risk" of losing a key partner - in reference to the US, which has already sunk tens of billions into the war effort. But the Ukrainian leader also seems somewhat defeated, admitting the "most difficult" moment in the history of the war.
President Trump has said that next Thursday, Thanksgiving Day in the US, is a suitable deadline for the sides to sign the peace agreement. As for the immense pressure from the US Zelensky is talking about, Reuters reports:
"The United States has threatened to cut intelligence sharing and weapons supplies for Ukraine to press it into agreeing to the framework of a U.S.-brokered peace deal, two people familiar with the matter said."
"The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Kyiv was under greater pressure from Washington than during any previous peace discussions, and that the U.S. wanted Ukraine to sign a framework of the deal by next Thursday," the report adds. Trump has also again admitted that Ukraine forces are fast losing ground on the battlefield.
In the meantime, Ukraine is reportedly in discussions with its more hawkish backers in Europe - France, Germany, and the UK - on a counter-proposal which would supplant the US peace plan.
Point number 25 of the 28 stipulates as follows: Ukraine will hold elections in 100 days. This is of course something Zelensky has resisted for years, arguing that martial law under the Ukrainian constitutions allows for the indefinite suspension of national elections.
His term expired in May 2024, but earlier this year he responded to allegations of simply wanting to hold on to power by asserting, "I’m focusing on the survival of our country, and I am doing it really all my term.

U.S. Ukraine Peace Plan Arrives as Zelensky Weakened by Massive Corruption Scandal

"The White House presented a 28-point peace plan to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday that includes new elements, including a robust, NATO-like security guarantee for Kyiv that Zelensky said is vital to any peace deal.
The plan also demands concessions from Ukraine, including giving Russia territory it has not conquered militarily. The deal would require Ukraine to shrink the size of its military from its current 850,000 to 600,000, enshrine in its constitution that it will not seek to join NATO, and give "de facto recognition" of Russia's conquest of "Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk, as well as of the areas of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia it has illegally seized, with the conflict in these regions frozen on the current front line," according to the Washington Post.
The White House is pressuring Ukraine to sign the deal before Thanksgiving or lose U.S. support. Currently, although the U.S. doesn't sell arms to Ukraine directly; we arrange deals with EU nations to sell Ukraine U.S. weapons. The States also give Ukraine vital intelligence support that many analysts believe it could not do without. A cut off of that intelligence sharing would complicate the defense of Ukraine enormously.
The document includes lines for signatures from Ukraine, the U.S., the EU, NATO and Russia. A senior White House official said Russia was briefed on the draft, but it's unclear if President Vladimir Putin's signature will ultimately be required.
The peace plan is being presented to Ukraine at a time when President Zelensky has come under heavy fire for a corruption scandal that involves some of his closest friends and aides." PJMedia

Russian forces take full control of Kupyansk

"Ukrainian soldiers are ready to surrender but face threats from their own command, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov has said.
Russian
forces have captured the city of Kupyansk in northeastern Ukraine, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said on Thursday during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a military command post.

Formations of the West grouping have liberated the city of Kupyansk,” Gerasimov said during the briefing. He noted that Ukrainian forces were being destroyed on the left bank of the river and that the conditions had been prepared for them to surrender." RT
