Kamikaze Drone Attacks Military Unit in Transnistria

"Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may attempt to “escalate” his way out of his current struggles on the battlefield by expanding the conflict to a third country.
A kamikaze drone attacked a military unit in Transnistria, a defacto independent republic, on
Friday and caused minor damage to a radar station, the region’s State Security Ministry said.

"Today at 14:35 [11:35 am GMT], a kamikaze drone attacked the Tranisntiran Defense Ministry’s military unit in the Ribnita district, six kilometers [3.7 miles] from the Transnistrian-Ukrainian border. The target was a radar station that sustained minor damage, there are no casualties," the ministry said, adding that a criminal case has been launched.
Sleboda speculated an attack on the pro-Russia region could provide an opportunity for the Ukrainian leader to overcome his struggles in the Donbass. Moldova recently launched a drone attack on Transnistria, and the analyst suggested that attacks on Russian landing ships may be intended to stymie the country’s efforts to respond to potential Ukrainian aggression in the region." Romanian and US soldiers begin JCET 2024 military excercises in Moldova

"Multinational JCET-2024 military exercises have commenced in Moldova, with military personnel from Romania and the United States taking part. The training will run from April 1 to April 19, according to the Ministry of Defense of Moldova. Moldova's Information and Security Service, Alexandru Mustiață, said that Russia had prepared plans to destabilize the situation within Moldova. Specifically, Moscow aims to interfere in Moldova's presidential elections and disrupt the referendum on the country's European integration.
Mustiață specified that there was a record level of activity by Russian special services in Moldova in 2023.
Recently, the so-called Transnistrian Moldovan Republic appealed to Russia for "protection from Moldova."" MS

US Issues Warning To Breakaway Moldovan Region Seeking Russia's 'Protection'

"Russian state media says that the country's parliament and Federation Council is preparing to respond positively to Transistria's earlier urgent requestion for Moscow's 'protection' from
Moldova, a small eastern European country supported by Washington. Russian legislators have "put forward a request to both the Federation Council and State Duma of Russia, urging them to implement measures to safeguard Transnistria, especially in light of Moldova’s growing pressure. This request is backed up by the fact that over 220,000 Russian citizens reside in Transnistria."
The Biden administration has responded by saying it is "closely watching" the situation, calling the breakaway "occupied" by Russian forces (since Soviet times). "The United States firmly supports Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders," the State Department said." ZH

Transnistria Assembly Fuels Speculation Separatist State Aims To Join Russia

"The faltering bid of congressional warhawks to continue to provide Ukraine with a blank check isn't the only sign of Russia's geopolitical strength in eastern Europe. As the future of the war in Ukraine hinges on that crucial aid package, another region has emerged as evidence of Russia's growing sphere of influence. Pridnestrovie, a region bordering Ukraine known better under the western exonym Transnistria, is scheduled to address Russian President Vladimir Putin at its next congressional assembly on February 28th. The forthcoming address appears to the latest step in a trajectory trending toward the breakaway state seeking complete separation from Romania and assimilation into the Russian Federation." ZH

Shots and drones from Ukraine reported near huge arms depot in Transnistria

"Several shots were fired from across Ukraine’s border with Transnistria into the territory of
the self-proclaimed republic and in the direction of a huge arms depot, its interior ministry said on Wednesday. Two drones were also sighted in the area.
“At 8:45 in the morning on April 27, shots were fired from Ukrainian territory in the direction of Kolbasna village,” the ministry’s statement reads. Transnistrian officials said that no casualties had been reported as a result.
In a separate incident preceding the alleged shooting on Wednesday, “several drones were spotted over the village of Kolbasna” overnight, according to the ministry. The Transnistrian authorities also claim that the drones “had been launched into Transnistrian territory from Ukraine.”
Since the predominantly Russian-speaking region became de facto independent from Moldova following a war in 1992, Russian peacekeepers have been stationed there." RT
