Storm Amy leaves 3 dead in Ireland and France, thousands without power

"Storm Amy (known as Detlef in
Germany) became the first named storm of the 2025/26 European windstorm season.....At least 3 people have been reported dead due to the record-breaking Storm Amy that swept across Northern Europe through the weekend, causing hundreds of thousands of power outages in multiple countries, including Ireland, the UK, France, and Norway.....restoration efforts continue, with thousands still without power in the affected regions. France’s northern coast recorded its strongest winds during the storm, with gusts reaching up to 131 km/h (81 mph) along the coast and 110 km/h (68 mph) inland. The storm injured multiple people as it swept across northern Europe, causing over 500 000 power outages in Ireland, the United Kingdom (UK), Norway, Sweden, and France.

Russian strikes hit thermal power plant in Ukraine

"According to
Ukraine's Air Force, Russian forces launched 183 Shahed-type attack and decoy drones overnight. Air defenses intercepted 154, but 22 drones still struck 11 locations.
A thermal power plant owned by DTEK,
Ukraine's largest private energy company, was among the facilities hit. The company said two workers were injured and the plant sustained "serious damage," although it did not disclose the exact location.
Russian
forces also targeted energy infrastructure in Chernihiv and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts, the Energy Ministry reported. The ministry urged citizens to use electricity responsibly to ease pressure on the power grid." KI

"A strong magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit 4 km (2.5 mi) away from Hualien City,
Taiwan, Taiwan, in the morning at 7.52 am local time (GMT +8). The depth of the quake could not be determined, but is assumed to be shallow.
The quake was reported felt by some people near the epicenter."

200 combat engagements with Russian forces

"200 combat engagements between Ukraine’s Defense Forces and Russian troops along the frontline.
Russian
airstrikes targeted the areas of Zaliznychne and Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia region, Zelenodolsk in Dnipropetrovsk region, and Sadove in Kherson region.
In response,
Ukraine’s aviation, missile, and artillery units struck three clusters of Russian personnel, one electronic warfare station, one radar station, three ammunition depots, and one other important target.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors,
Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attacks. The enemy carried out seven airstrikes, dropping 10 guided bombs, and conducted 198 artillery attacks, including eight from MLRS.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, 29 combat clashes occurred near Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Tykhe, Ambarne, Kamianka, Bolohivka, Zapadne, Krasne Pershe, Dovhenke, and toward Kolodiazne, Dvorychanske, and Kutkivka.
In the Kupiansk sector,
Ukrainian troops repelled eight assaults near Kupiansk, as well as toward Petropavlivka, Novoplatonivka, Pishchane, and Stepova Novoselivka.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy attacked 12 times, attempting to advance near Serednie, Shandryholove, Novoselivka, Derylove, Karpivka, and Torske.
In the Siversk sector,
Russian forces launched 11 assaults near Yampil, Hryhorivka, Vyimka, and Serebrianka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, no offensive actions were recorded.
In the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out 18 attacks near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, and Poltavka.
In the Pokrovsk sector,
Ukrainian defenders repelled 46 Russian attacks near Volodymyrivka, Nykanorivka, Sukhetske, Myroliubivka, Nove Shakhove, Ivanivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Novoekonomichne, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Novomykolaivka, Orikhove, Dachne, Filiia, and toward Novopavlivka and Balahan.
In the Novopavlivka sector,
Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled 32 enemy assaults near Zaporizhzhia, Oleksandrohrad, Sichneve, Novoselivka, Novoheorhiivka, Sosnivka, Vorone, Kalynivske, Novohryhorivka, Voskresenka, Oleksiivka, Stepove, Piddubne, Berezove, and Novoivanivka.
In the Huliaipole sector, 11 combat engagements were recorded near Poltavka and Malynivka.
In the Orikhiv sector, eight battles took place as
Russian forces attempted to advance near Plavni, Stepove, and toward Stepnohirsk and Novoandriivka.
