Defense Forces soldiers once again attack factory producing electronics for missiles in Azov, Russia

"In the night units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a factory in Azov, Rostov Oblast,
causing a fire in the foundry.

Equipment in five buildings was damaged; the plant—part of the “Tactical Missile Weapons” corporation—manufactures systems for artillery, missiles, and anti-tank weapons.
This was the second strike on the facility since July 4, 2025; the company is subject to sanctions imposed by the United States, Canada, Switzerland, the EU, New Zealand, and Ukraine." UN

Trump welcomes Russia at G20 despite EU tantrum

"President Donald Trump welcomed the presence of a senior Russian delegation at the G20, ignoring protests from EU officials who refused to appear alongside Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov in the gathering’s traditional “family photo.”
Siluanov arrived in Asheville, North Carolina for the two-day meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors on Monday at the invitation of the Trump administration. His first in-person appearance at the forum since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022 immediately drew protests from European delegates.
German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil called the decision to treat Siluanov as a regular participant a “troubling” signal. Other EU officials reportedly threatened to boycott the photo unless the Russian official was excluded, according to the Washington Post.
Trump brushed aside the criticism when asked about Siluanov’s visit.
“We’re going to see what happens, but we like getting along with everybody,” he told reporters in the Oval Office. “One of the reasons that I’m so successful, I get along with everybody.”
Unlike the Europeans, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent held a bilateral meeting with Siluanov. Moscow said the two discussed Russian-U.S. cooperation on financial issues and coordination within the G20." RT

All EU states back opening formal accession talks with Ukraine after Hungary deal

"All 27 EU member states have given the green light to open the first cluster of accession
negotiations with
Ukraine and Moldova, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said on June 4 after an agreement between Kyiv and Budapest cleared the key hurdle.
"We are one step closer to the EU membership: steadily moving towards our goal," the prime minister said.
Svyrydenko's statement followed Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar's announcement on June 3 that Ukraine and Hungary had reached an agreement on the rights of the country's Hungarian-speaking minority, prompting EU officials to confirm that the next stage in the EU accession process will proceed in mid-June." Orban’s successor rules out sending weapons to Ukraine

"Hungary will not supply weapons or military equipment to Ukraine, the country’s newly elected prime minister, Peter Magyar, said on Thursday shortly after meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels.
Magyar’s center-right Tisza party defeated Viktor Orban’s Fidesz last month, securing a two-thirds parliamentary majority.
EU officials, who had previously criticized Orban as a Kremlin-friendly politician, voiced support for Magyar ahead of the election and were widely seen as expecting him to roll back many of the previous government’s policies.
Magyar, however, is far closer to Orban politically than the former prime minister opponents would like to admit. “I informed the Secretary General that Hungary is not supplying weapons or military equipment to Ukraine,” Magyar said in a post on X.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban, a member of Magyar’s Tisza party, had previously said Hungary “stands for peace” and rejects sending either troops or weapons to Ukraine." RT

Panicked Carney issues 'dangerous' threat over Alberta independence vote

"Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Monday warned that a referendum vote to separate
Alberta from
Canada could be a "dangerous bluff" that could backfire.
The referendum, which has been championed by Alberta's premier, Danielle Smith, has echoes to the
United Kingdom's Brexit movement. Carney, who was governor of the Bank of England when the U.K. left the European Union, said he knows firsthand how referendum votes can get out of hand.
The vote, which is scheduled for later this year, is only a question of whether to hold a future vote on separation." msn

Zelenskyy rejects associate status for Ukraine as unfair

"Ukraine should not be given a lesser “associate” status in the European Union without full
voting rights, President Volodymyr
Zelensky told EU leaders in a letter, calling a reported German proposal “unfair.”
The letter was addressed to European Council President António Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU.
“It would be unfair if Ukraine were present in the European Union but remained without a voice. It is time to move forward on Ukraine’s membership in a full and meaningful way,” Zelensky wrote." Pravada

EU votes in support of Nuremberg-style tribunal for Russia

"EU ministers voted for the bloc to formally join a Council of Europe court that will prosecute
Russia's leaders for its illegal war against Ukraine, three EU officials confirmed to the Kyiv Independent.
"This is a significant and long-anticipated step forward," Iryna Mudra, deputy head of the president's office, told the Kyiv Independent, adding that the
EU's decision "marks the transition from conceptual design to the final phase of institutional establishment."
The Special Tribunal being set up will prosecute
Russia for the same crime of aggression that Nazi German leaders were found guilty of in the Nuremberg trials at the end of World War II." KI

Two Arrests After Brand-New German Warships Allegedly Sabotaged in Dock

"A joint European police operation has led to the arrest of two men over the alleged sabotage of German warships by dockyard workers, which could have “led to significant damage to the ships” had it not been detected. Two men, a 37-year-old Romanian citizen and a 54-year-old Greek, were arrested on Tuesday in a joint operation between German, Romanian, Greek, and European Union police agencies.
Their apartments were searched, and digital devices were recovered. German prosecutors say the men, who were both contractors employed at the Blohm und Voss shipyard in Hamburg, a subsidiary of the German defence giant Rheinmetall, where “several” warships were sabotaged last year.
It is alleged the Romanian man, who was employed as a painter, had poured 20 kilograms (45lbs) of abrasive steel shot blasting media into the main engine of the brand-new German navy corvette Emden.
It is further alleged that other acts of sabotage include “punctured fresh water supply lines, removed fuel tank caps, and deactivated safety switches in the ship’s electronics”. At least one other ship is said to have been sabotaged, but exactly how remains unclear. While it was revealed last year that incidents had occurred at the naval shipyard, it was only after the arrests that it was confirmed that the government had concluded they were acts of sabotage. Remarkably,
German newspaper Bild reports that at least one of the alleged saboteurs remained employed at the shipyard until this week and had access to the secure facility for over a year after the attempted sabotage was first discovered."

France and EU clash over UK missiles for Ukraine

"France has clashed with several EU nations over a proposal that would allow Ukraine to use
an
EU-backed loan to buy British Storm Shadow missiles, The Telegraph reported on Monday, citing diplomatic sources. Paris has consistently pushed for preferential treatment for the EU’s military industry on procurements destined for Kiev.
The outlet noted that Paris is the center of the
EU’s drive for “strategic autonomy” amid concerns about overreliance on US defense after a rift with Washington over its push to acquire Greenland.
Under the current design of the €90 billion loan, spending on weapons would follow a four-layer procurement cascade that prioritizes
Ukrainian producers first, then EU defense firms, followed by partner countries such as the UK, with suppliers outside Europe – including the US – treated as a last resort.... the aim of Britain and its partners was to keep the system “open enough for the UK” to ensure that reaching the third layer of the cascade “is not so hard.” RT

UK urges Western Europe to arm Ukraine instead of talk to Russia

"Western Europe must increase support for Ukraine rather than restart direct talks with Russia,
British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper told Politico on Thursday.
French
President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni have previously argued it is time to negotiate directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They are reportedly concerned EU interests will be sidelined in US-mediated Ukraine peace talks and are pushing to create a special diplomatic envoy role for the bloc to engage Russia.
In the interview, Cooper said she sees no sign that “Putin actually wants peace” and urged more weapons for Ukraine and continued sanctions on Russia. Western Europe must “put increased pressure, economic pressure, and also through the military support to Ukraine, that military pressure on Russia as well,” she added." RT

Cost of Anti-Russia Policies: Chancellor Merz Admits German Economy Teeters on Edge

"Europe: Own sanctions’ biggest loser
Instead of hurting
Russia, “rising oil and gas prices as a result of both sanctions and the Ukraine conflict have destroyed the EU’s industrial competitiveness and led to some de-industrialization in Europe’s biggest economy – Germany.”
Severe difficulties are affecting “a major part of German industry,” Chancellor Friedrich Merz acknowledged in press conference following the final meeting of the Christian Social Union (CSU) regional group.
This also concerns “much of the small and medium-sized business sector, as well as small-scale manufacturing,” Friedrich Merz added at the event broadcast by Phoenix TV.
He acknowledged that the poor state of the economy is negatively impacting the German labor market. The German labor market is stagnant, “trapped in long-term unemployment,” said Merz.
Among the structural problems facing Germany’s economy, the Chancellor cited what he called excessively high taxes and electricity costs, along with numerous bureaucratic barriers." Sputnik

EU leaders agree on $105 billion loan to secure Ukraine’s financing through 2027

"European leaders approved an interest-free loan for Ukraine, providing a financial lifeline
and securing the cash-strapped country's financing needs for at least the next two years,
EU Council President Antonio Costa said on Dec. 19.
"We have a deal. Decision to provide 90 billion euros ($105.5 billion) of support to Ukraine for 2026-27 approved. We committed, we delivered," Costa said in a post on social media.
EU officials had initially sought to underpin a large loan to Ukraine with frozen Russian assets, but after failing to secure a consensus, they opted for an alternative financing approach." KI

UK plotting to undermine Trump’s Ukraine peace efforts – Russian intelligence

"The UK is reportedly trying to convince the European Union to take control of frozen
Russian assets, aiming to undermine US President Donald Trump’s efforts to advance peace initiatives that could end the Ukraine conflict, according to Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
In a statement released on Tuesday, the SVR claimed that the UK’s leadership was “desperately pushing for Brussels’ decision to seize Russian assets.” Aside from the clear goal of providing financial support to Kiev, London is also seeking to diminish US interest in facilitating any peace mediation between Ukraine and Russia, according to Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service."
