Massive flooding hits Tokyo, alarms sounding everywhere

"A powerful summer tropical downpour at the height of the monsoon season has hit Tokyo. Record amounts of rainfall in a short period of time have flooded the Japanese capital. Subway stations, underground parking lots and shopping malls have been flooded. Local authorities
have ordered disaster alarms to be sounded.
Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding in the Kanto and Tohoku regions, with some areas of Tokyo receiving more than 100 mm (4 inches) of rain in one hour. More than 110 mm of rainfall was also recorded in the Nakano region in one hour. About 120 mm (4.72 inches) had fallen in the Suginami region by 7:00 PM local time, and 100 mm (3.94 inches) by the same time in the Meguro region. The flooding has also seriously disrupted traffic, creating the risk of cars being flooded." DW
