Wildfires in Turkey. Everything is burning: cities, fields and forests
"Forest fires continue to rage in several Turkish provinces and new ones continue to break out. The largest of them is in the province of Canakkale in the area of the village of Kepez. The fire spread quickly due to strong winds and hot, dry weather. The fire reached the Guzelyali intersection and the Camlibel residential complex, also affecting the territory of Canakkale University (Dardanos campus) and a military camp.Authorities have begun evacuating residents of the villages of Guzelyali, Halileli and Erenkoy. According to the governor of Canakkale, more than 2,090 people have been evacuated from the danger zones by sea and land.Another large forest fire broke out on the coast, near the village of Büyükevren in Edirne province, and under the influence of strong winds it spread to the village of Gülçavuş, threatening summer resorts. Firefighters from the Emergency Situations and Disaster Management Directorate were sent to fight the fire.
