"A very strong magnitude 6.2 earthquake occurred in the South Atlantic Ocean near the coast of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands in the evening of Wednesday, Sep 2, 2026 at 9.46 pm local time (Atlantic/South Georgia GMT -2). The quake had a moderate depth of 126 km (78 mi) and was reported felt by some people near the epicenter." VD
