"Hungary has called for a UN investigation into the “scandalous” attack on the Nord Stream
pipelines, which journalist Seymour Hersh asserted were destroyed by the United States.

The attack left Germany and other European countries dependent on US energy, prompting them to support escalation of the war in Ukraine.

One source told Hersh that the plotters knew the covert operation was an “act of war,” with some in the CIA and State Department warning, “Don’t do this. It’s stupid and will be a political nightmare if it comes out.” ZH

Western Leaders Privately Admit Ukraine Can't Win The War

"Western leaders privately told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Ukraine can not win the war against Russia and that it should begin peace talks with Moscow this year in exchange for closer ties with NATO.

The Wall Street Journal, which reported on the private remarks to Zelenksy, said:

“The public rhetoric masks deepening private doubts among politicians in the

U.K., France and Germany that Ukraine will be able to expel the Russians from eastern Ukraine and Crimea, which Russia has controlled since 2014, and a belief that the West can only help sustain the war effort for so long, especially if the conflict settles into a stalemate, officials from the three countries say.

‘We keep repeating that Russia mustn’t win, but what does that mean? If the war goes on for long enough with this intensity, Ukraine’s losses will become unbearable,’ a senior French official said.

‘And no one believes they will be able to retrieve Crimea.’

Putin would end the attack if the US froze over $300 billion owned by the Russian central bank. However, the Washington-led economic war on Moscow has failed to have a major impact on the Russian economy.

According to Bloomberg, in the immediate reaction to Russian forces invading Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the White House began to develop the "economic equivalent of a nuclear weapon" to use against Moscow. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan led the team that designed the sanctions on Moscow’s economy and froze $300 billion in assets of the Russian central bank.

Biden Strikes Down Chinese Peace Proposal As Zelensky Vows to Escalate War if Necessary

"The Chinese peace proposal, released after atomic weapons began to be discussed with more seriousness, encourages both parties to find a way to end the conflict and asks the international community to “support Russia and Ukraine in working in the same direction and resuming direct dialogue as quickly as possible”.

 The Russian government reacted positively to the peace proposal, though it insisted that any peace agreement involve the acceptance of Russian control over the four eastern oblasts of Ukraine that it controls. The American government and NATO, however, joined Zelensky in having a muted, if not negative response to the peace proposal.

Discussing the peace proposal in an interview with ABC, President Joe Biden said “Putin’s applauding it, so how could it be any good?”

“I’ve seen nothing in the plan that would indicate that there is something that would be beneficial to anyone other than Russia, if the Chinese plan were followed.” he added. “The idea that China is going to be negotiating the outcome of a war that’s a totally unjust war for Ukraine is just not rational.” TP
