Huge earthquake and tsunami threat strikes Russia putting Hawaii on alert

"A tsunami watch was issued for the state of Hawaii following a 7.5 magnitude earthquake.
The watch went into effect at 9.30 pm HST, according to the National Tsunami Warning Center. "Based on all available data, a tsunami may have been generated by this earthquake that could be destructive on coastal areas even far from the epicenter," officials warned. However, the watch was eventually cancelled. "Based on all available data there is no tsunami threat to the state of Hawaii. Therefore the tsunami watch for Hawaii is now cancelled," The National Weather Service said.
The watch comes after an earthquake struck off the east coast of Kamchatka, Russia. The earthquake occurred at 8.49 pm HST at a magnitude of 7.5 on the Richter scale." msn
