6.6 Earthquake - Maluku Sea, 18 km east of Pulau Kaburuang Island, Sulawesi Utara, Indonesia

"A very strong magnitude 6.6 earthquake occurred in the Maluku Sea near Pulau Kaburuang island, Indonesia, late in the evening at 10.58 pm local time (Asia/Makassar GMT +8). The quake had a very shallow depth of 31 km (19 mi) and was felt widely in the area. The shallow depth of the quake caused it to be felt more strongly near the epicenter than a deeper quake of similar magnitude would." VD
