35,000-acre wildfire burns near Mt. Hood Meadows, evacuation order issued

"Parts of Waco and Hood River Counties in Oregon, including Mt. Hood Meadows, are being

evacuated as a result of the Grasshopper Fire.
The Elk Mountain zones, where the ski area is located, were upgraded to Level 3 (Go Now) evacuation status earlier this morning, August 4, 2026. The mountain was also closed on Monday, August 3, as smoke from both the Grasshopper fire and northwest winds blowing smoke down from fires in Washington State clouded the area." msn
