"Volcanic ash from Lewotobi in Indonesia was observed at 3 400 m (11 200 feet) above sea level at 20:00 UTC on September 21, 2025. The advisory was issued by the Darwin VAAC at 20:32 UTC.
The observed ash cloud was at an altitude between the surface and flight level 110 (approximately 3 400 m or 11 200 feet). Satellite imagery from Himawari-9 and multiple ground reports confirmed ongoing discrete volcanic ash emissions, with the cloud moving northwest at approximately 37 km/h (23 mph).
