"Volcanic ash from Semeru in Indonesia was observed at 4 600 m (15 000 feet) above sea

level at 03:40 UTC on September 22, 2025. The advisory was issued by the Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre (VAAC) at 04:00 UTC on September 22, 2025.
According to the advisory, ash was observed between the surface and flight level 150 (approximately 4 600 m or 15 000 feet). The ash cloud was moving toward the north-northwest at approximately 37 km/h (23 mph), with the last visual confirmation at 01:40 UTC. Discrete ash emissions were not identifiable in the latest satellite imagery due to meteorological cloud cover, but ground reports from CVGHM during the past 12 hours indicated continued emissions.
