"A strong magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit 107 km (66 mi) away from Turpan, Xinjiang, China, around noon  at 12.55 pm local time (Asia/Urumqi GMT +6). The depth of the quake could not be determined, but is assumed to be shallow. The quake was not felt (or at least not reported so)." VD
