"China is facing a widening multi-province flood emergency as severe rainfall affects Guangdong, Gansu, Heilongjiang, Sichuan and other regions. Nearly 900,000 people were
moved to safety in Guangdong after Typhoon Noul, known in
China as Hongxia, brought destructive rain, river flooding and landslide risks. Roads and villages were submerged, power and communications were disrupted, and rescue teams used boats to reach trapped residents. In a separate disaster, a mountain torrent struck the Shuangshimen scenic area in Gansu,.
